A light earthquake of magnitude 2.3 hit the South Pacific Ocean near the coast of New Zealand early Saturday morning.
The quake occurred on October 4, 2025, at 5:51 am local time (GMT+12).
Its depth was very shallow, measured at 12 kilometres (7 miles).
No tremors were felt, and no damage or injuries have been reported.
Authorities confirmed that the quake was too weak to be noticed by the public.
