Clovis, New Mexico — Panic turned to relief at Cannon Air Force Base on Friday after an active shooter alert triggered a full lockdown that was lifted less than an hour later.
Base officials confirmed the situation was resolved quickly, and no injuries were reported. The emergency began around 12:30 p.m. local time, when all personnel were told to shelter in place as security forces responded.
“There is no active threat. Security teams have cleared the area,” officials from the 27th Special Operations Wing said in a statement.
Local police and Air Force security worked together to sweep buildings and nearby housing areas before giving the all clear around 1:15 p.m.
The cause of the alert is still under investigation, and no suspect has been identified.
