Rajasthan Sets Rabi Sowing Target at 1.20 Crore Hectares for 2025-26 Season
Jaipur: The Rajasthan Agriculture Department has announced new sowing targets for the upcoming Rabi 2025-26 season, marking a significant expansion in cultivated area compared to last year.
According to the latest update, the total sowing target has been set at 1 crore 20 lakh 15 thousand hectares, which is 20 thousand hectares more than the previous year.
The target for wheat cultivation has been increased from 32 lakh hectares to 36 lakh hectares, reflecting a strong focus on boosting food grain output.
In contrast, the target for mustard crops has been slightly reduced from 40.50 lakh hectares to 36 lakh hectares, aligning with crop diversification plans.
The chickpea (chana) sowing target has also been revised downward by one lakh hectares, to 21.50 lakh hectares, while other Rabi pulses will cover 3.80 lakh hectares.
Additionally, tarameera will be grown over 2.30 lakh hectares, and linseed (alsi) over 18 thousand hectares.
The department has also planned to expand the cultivation area for spices and vegetables by 20 lakh hectares to promote crop variety and market stability.
Officials said the final notification of the Rabi sowing plan will be issued later this week, following approval from the Agriculture Minister.
The revised targets highlight the state’s focus on balanced crop production and agricultural sustainability for the 2025-26 farming cycle.
