Inflation Decreases To 0.9% In May In Sri Lanka

Inflation has decreased to 0.9 per cent in May this year in Sri Lanka. According to the Department of Census and Statistics, the overall rate of inflation has decreased compared to the 1.5 per cent recorded in April 2024 as measured by the Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI).

Last week, the Central Bank had decided to keep the key rates unchanged with a view to target growth. Earlier this year, Central Bank Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe had emphasized that if inflation remains stable at around 4 per cent -5 per cent, further monetary easing would be possible.
