Deadly Attacks On Russian Places Of Worship In North Caucasus Region

In Russia, gunmen attacked two places of worship in the cities of Derbent and Makhachkala of the North Caucasus region. The attack resulted in the deaths of at least seven police officers, a security guard, and a priest. The attacks that occurred yesterday during the Orthodox festival of Pentecost, added a tragic note to the religious celebration.
 
Six of the attackers have been killed, and police are actively searching for others involved. While the assailants have not been identified, Dagestan has previously been the scene of Islamist attacks.
 
The motives and identities of the gunmen were also unclear, and there was no claim of responsibility for the attack. While, Russia’s Investigative Committee, has begun a terrorism investigation.
