Rameswaram Fishermen On Strike Demanding Release Of 22 Fisherman Caught By Sri Lankan Navy

In Tamil Nadu, the fishermen of Rameswaram are on a day-long strike today, demanding the release of the twenty-two fishermen who were caught by the Sri Lankan Navy for trespassing into international waters yesterday. Earlier, 5000 fishermen went in 507 boats for fishing on Saturday. Out of this, 22 fishermen in three boats were surrounded by the Sri Lankan Navy for trespassing into international waters. They were handed over to the Jaffna Court. The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and leaders of other political parties have appealed to the Centre to take the necessary action for the release of the fishermen.
