More Than 75 Die And Many Others Injured In Stampede At Religious Gathering In UP’s Hathras District

In Uttar Pradesh, more than seventy five people died and many others were injured in a stampede at a religious gathering in a village in Hathras district on Tuesday (2nd July 2024). Senior Superintendent of Police of Etah Rajesh Kumar Singh said that this incident took place in a satsang organized in  Phulrai  village. A large number of people had gathered for this event.
 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the Hathras incident in Parliament and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. He said that the administration is engaged in relief and rescue work under the supervision of the state government. Senior officials of the central government are in constant touch with the Uttar Pradesh government. He assured everyone through the House that the victims would be helped in every way.
 

State Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the district administration officials to immediately take the injured to the hospital and expedite their proper treatment and relief work on the spot. CM directed that the investigation of the cause of the incident be completed within 24 hours under the leadership of ADG Agra and Commissioner Aligarh.
 

The Chief Minister has directed the officials to provide financial assistance of two lakh rupees each to the families of the deceased and fifty thousand rupees each to the injured. An FIR will be registered against the program organizers.
 

Hathras District Magistrate Ashish Kumar said information about death toll is still being gathered. In view of the accident, the district administration has issued helplines 05722227041 and 05722227042 for the help of common people.
 

CMO Etah, Umesh Kumar Tripathi said that 27 bodies have arrived at the post-mortem house so far, including 25 women and 2 men. Many injured have also been admitted.
 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex-gratia of two lakh rupees from Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund for the next of kin of each deceased in the mishap in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh. The injured will be given 50 thousand rupees.
 

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has expressed distress over the demise of people in the stampede accident in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh. In a social media post, Mr. Singh said that the accident is extremely painful and he condolences to the bereaved families. He added, under the supervision of the state government, local administration is providing all possible help to all the victims. The Minister prayed for speedy recovery of all the injured.
