Incessant Rain Affects Normal Life In Manipur

In Manipur, incessant rain affected normal life and landslides and flash floods have been reported at different places of the State.
 

Heavy rainfall triggered landslides along the National Highway 37, Imphal-Jiribam Road on Tuesday (2nd July 2024) morning. However, the road construction company cleared the road within hours.
 

On the other hand, most of the river of Manipur are flowing  above warning level flowing due to incessant rainfall started from yesterday. In some places, water overflowed from the riverbank and inundated low lying dwelling areas. The State Government has started clearing drainage systems in Imphal city to lower the level of inundated water.
 

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Centre, IMD Imphal forecasts heavy rainfall in Manipur for next five days. The department has warned people living along the Imphal and Nambul rivers in the Imphal area to remain alert as these rivers are flowing above danger level and have the possibility of breaching the river bank anytime.
