12 Candidates File Nomination For Biennial Elections For 11 Seats Of Maharashtra Legislative Council

A total of 12 candidates have filed that nomination for the biennial elections for 11 seats of Maharashtra Legislative Council.
 

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has nominated Pankaja Munde, Amit Gorkhe, Sadabhau Khot, Yogesh Tilekar and renominated Parinay Phuke, Shiv Sena has fielded Krupal Tumane and Bhawana Gawli. The Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party has fielded Rajesh Vitekar and Shivajirao Garje.
 

From the opposition side, Congress has renominated Pradyna Satav while  Shiv Sena (UBT) has chosen to field Milind Narvekar. NCP (SP) is supporting sitting MLC and Peasants and Workers’ Party (PWP) leader Jayant Prabhakar Patil.
 

The last date of withdrawal of nominations is 5th July and the election will take place on 12th July.

The legislative assembly is the electoral college for the elections. The quota for the winning candidates is 23. The BJP has 103 members, NCP has 40 and Shiv Sena has 38. From the opposition, Congress has 37 MLAs, Shiv Sena (UBT) has 15 and Sharad Pawar-led NCP has 10 MLAs.
