Women’s Cricket: Test Match Between India And South Africa Underway

In Women’s Cricket, the one off test match between India and South Africa is underway at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Indian Captain Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and elected to bat. Indian women went off on a scoring spree as in the first session itself they crossed the 100 mark, making 130. Both the openers, Shafali Varma and Smriti Mandhana hit a century. Smriti scored 149. Till last reports, hosts India were 297 for 1 .
 
This is India’s third Test match of the season whereas South Africa is playing their third of this calendar year away from home. Before this match South African women played test match in India nearly 10 year’s ago, in November 2014.  
 
In Chennai, the sky is going to be overcast in the first half of the Test while there is  forecast of rain for the latter half. With the practice pitches offering ample turn, spinners are expected to play a major role as the game progresses.
