There Is Significant Rise In Cybercrime Incidents Targeting India: Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre

The Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C) has said that there is a significant rise in a number of cybercrime incidents targeting India, which are originating from the Southeast Asian Region. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, CEO of I4C Rajesh Kumar said, these cybercrime cases are being reported from countries like Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos. He said, a significant number of cybercrime complaints are being reported every day related to investment Scams, trading Scams, Digital Arrest Scams and dating scams.
 
 
Mr Kumar informed that a high-level inter-ministerial committee under the chairpersonship of Special Secretary (Internal Security), Ministry of Home Affairs has been constituted to mitigate cybercrime incidents originating from Southeast Asia. He said, the government has freezed a total of 3.25 Lakh Mule Accounts in last four months, blocked around 595 Apps and suspended 5.3 Lakhs SIM Cards. Mr Kumar said the Ministry of Home Affairs is closely working with the Ministry of External Affairs Ministry to curb Cyber cases.
