Conference On India’s Progressive Path In Administration Of Criminal Justice System Held In Chennai

The Conference on India’s progressive path in the administration of the criminal justice system was held in Chennai today. As the new three criminal laws are to take effect from July 1, the Conference was a precursor to the implementation of the laws.

Speaking at the event, Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal said that the colonial rulers established the Indian Penal Code with the goal of punishing Indians.To offer Justice , the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been introduced. He said that the primary purpose of the colonial codification was to suppress Indians. He underlined the need to rebrand the IPC. He said that with consultation of the States, Union Territories, Judges of the High Courts and Supreme Courts, and has been working since 2019.
 

Speaking at the conference, Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr.L.Murugan has said that the NDA Government had introduced the New Criminal laws following a more technologically inclined world. He said that Bharat Nyay laws have been made suitable for a more digitalised society.
 

In this conference, technical sessions on various topics including Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita  are being discussed . The sessions are attended by senior advocates, Judges of the High Courts and Supreme Courts and law students and practitioners.
