10th International Day Of Yoga Being Celebrated Across Globe Today; PM Modi Leads Celebrations From Srinagar In J&K

The 10th International Day of Yoga is being celebrated across the country today. The main function was held at Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the celebrations from Srinagar. J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Minister Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav and many other dignitaries joined the programme led by the Prime Minister. Globally, Embassies and Indian Missions abroad will join the celebrations, reflecting yoga’s widespread influence.
 
This year’s theme, “Yoga for Self and Society,” emphasizes yoga’s vital role in fostering both individual well-being and societal harmony.
 
The event aims to bring together thousands of participants carrying the message to promote global health and wellness through the practice of yoga. On the occasion, the Prime Minister addressed the gathering and participated in the Common Yoga Protocol session, highlighting Yoga’s significance in nurturing physical, mental, and spiritual growth.
 
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister extended his greetings to the people worldwide who performed yoga as part of the celebration. He further emphasised over benefits of performing yoga. 
 
Mr Modi also said that the number of people performing yoga is continuously increasing throughout the world. He said that people have devoted themselves to yoga as it gives positive energy. Mr Modi further recalled the time when the International Day of Yoga got recognition in 2015 when 177 countries backed India’s proposal to mark the day. Mr Modi also mentioned the Traditional Medicine and Yoga Center started in Turkmenistan.  
 
To maximize the inclusiveness of Yoga benefits, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also written a letter to all Gram Pradhans, encouraging grassroots participation and the spread of yoga in rural areas.
